Perimeter Road closure to begin June 15; Detour Routes Announced

Jun 5th, 2026

MOBILE, Ala. (June 5, 2026)  Perimeter Road at Mobile International Airport will close to traffic beginning Monday, June 15, to allow for construction of a new roundabout that will support the airport's future terminal.

The closure is expected to remain in place through Friday, October 23, weather and construction conditions permitting.

To keep traffic moving safely during construction, drivers will be directed to use posted detour routes. Most drivers will use Dauphin Island Parkway, Gatotkoco Drive and Interstate 10. A separate access route will be maintained for Fixed Base Operator (FBO) traffic.

Access to businesses and facilities will remain available throughout construction.

Detour signage will be installed throughout the area to guide drivers. Drivers are encouraged to allow additional travel time and follow posted signs.

The roundabout is part of the roadway improvements being constructed to support the future Mobile International Airport (BFM) terminal and improve access throughout the airport campus.
